Apple's New Tablet - What Will iPad Cost and How Does it Work?

Apple has finally done it. Apple has released its new tablet device, that is. The Mac public was expecting, indeed clamoring -- for Apple to release such a device -- and soon! For Apple to have failed to do so would have been a major letdown (to its customers as well as its stockholders). The momentum was just impossible to resist.

After all, the iPhone is essentially a miniature tablet computer. Apple has shown that it can "do" such a device like no one else. So, despite Steve Jobs past protestations, releasing a new tablet was a no-brainer. All Apple had to do is scale up its brilliant interface to a larger device.

Apples

Did I say "all Apple had to do?" The technical challenges in producing this new device, called the iPad, were enormous. Apple had to essentially design a whole new operating system that is not quite the Mac and not quite the iPhone, rewrite its core applications from scratch, and basically rethink the entire way a computer operates.

Apple was not the first to release a new tablet computer, just as it was not the first to release an MP3 player or cell phone, but it may well be the company that succeeds in making the tablet computer truly "catch fire" with the public.

Apple has a tremendous head start with 140,000+ apps for the iPhone, and it wisely designed the iPad to take advantage of them. The iPad can run iPhone apps at their original size, or in "pixel doubled mode" twice the size as on the iPhone, so that they nearly fill the iPad screen. Developers can easily rewrite their iPhone apps specifically for the iPad in such a way as to take advantage of its new features.

How will the iPad affect Internet marketers? Of course, the "i" in its name stands for Internet (and it's also a clever play on the name of the "iPod"). Surfing the web will be a joy, and a larger screen will give users much more room to work with. Apple's developers brag that it's like "holding the entire Internet in your hand," or like reading a physical book or magazine.

Creation of new apps for the iPad by developers could rival the gold rush that sprang up around the iPhone. Apple offers the SDK 3.2 beta for developers with the tools they need to start creating applications for the iPad, and an iPad simulator that lets them build and run applications on the Mac, lay out the user interface, test memory usage and debug.

Web graphic designers and artists will enjoy the included Brushes application on the iPad's larger screen, although some may feel that it is something like fingerpainting -- a stylus that works with the iPad will not be supported, at least not initially.

Apple has completely rewritten its productivity software iWork for the iPad. Keynote contains custom graph styles, custom-designed themes, animations and effects, and brand-new features designed just for the iPad. Pages includes Apple-designed templates and formatting tools. Numbers offers over 250 formulas, flexible tables and sophisticated charts.

Want to catch up on your marketing reading? Apple has worked hard to make reading e-books, magazines and newspapers pleasurable on the iPad. Apple's e-book reading software has an interface that looks like a bookshelf. Flip the bookshelf over with your finger, and you're brought to the online store where you can purchase new books.

The iPad's built-in Safari browser works just like the one on your Mac. And, like the version on your iPhone, you can scroll through pages by flicking your finger across them, or pinch or double tap to zoom in on a photo.

The Mail application offers a landscape view with a split screen showing both the current e-mail and the unread messages in your inbox. Want to view the current e-mail message by itself? Simply turn the iPad to portrait mode and the message zooms to fill the screen. The iPad will work with popular e-mail providers such as mobile me, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Hotmail and AOL. To compose a message, you just tap and start typing.

This brings us to the onscreen keyboard. Many pundits wondered how text entry would work on Apple's new tablet device. You can use an external keyboard for typing long documents if you wish. However, I think Apple made the right decision in not attempting to build a physical keyboard into the tablet. The goal of the iPad is to bring your data and web surfing up close for an intimate feel. A keypad would simply get between you and the screen.

The on-screen keyboard is much larger, of course, than what is possible on the iPhone. In landscape mode, the keyboard is almost as large as that on a standard laptop. With just a few tweaks to the word recognition and auto-correction features of the iPhone software, typing on this virtual keyboard, I suspect, could be almost as fast as using a real one. Plus, I believe that voice dictation apps could come quickly to the iPad, just as they have to the iPhone.

And, of course, the iPad includes all of the same features as the iPhone, only in a larger form--video, YouTube, the iPod and iTunes, interactive satellite maps, the notepad, a calendar completely redesigned from the ground up for the iPad, Contacts and Spotlight search.

The iPad will be shipped in three different internal storage configurations and with the option of Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + 3G, for a total of six different models. The base model, the 16 GB Wi-Fi only, will start at a reasonable 9, while the top of the line 64 GB Wi-Fi + 3G model will tip the scales at a still affordable 9. Apple has said that, while most new technologies are introduced at a higher price point and slowly work their way down, Apple wanted to do things differently.

When will the iPad be available? Apple expects the Wi-Fi models to ship in late March and the 3G models to ship in April.

The thinness, just 0.5 inches, the light weight, just 1.5 pounds, and the flexibility of this new device are sure to make the iPad popular with Internet marketers and anyone on the go. With its high resolution LED backlight, it's larger display, it's responsive multi-touch screen and its powerful Apple-designed processor, the new iPad will be thin and light enough to take anywhere. And I suspect that many people will choose to do exactly that.

The Fruit of the Spirit Bible Memory Verses Project For Children

Are you looking for Bible Memory Verses and fun ways to teach them to your grandchildren? How about teaching them the Fruit of the Spirit Bible verses from Galatians 5:22-23a, along with supplemental Bible memory verses for each of the different "fruit?"

The Fruit of the Spirit is

  • Love
  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Patience
  • Kindness
  • Goodness
  • Faithfulness
  • Gentleness
  • Self-Control

Fruit

My grandkids and I had fun with this Bible memorization project last summer while they were on break from the Awana Bible memory verses program.

We found that, for most of the fruit of the Spirit, there's a wide range of Bible verse choices that apply to each of these - from very short Bible verses for young children or those with learning disabilities to longer verses for those children who relish a challenge.

For example, the verses we learned for the first fruit, LOVE, were:

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:30-31a

A shorter verse for LOVE would be:

God is love. 1 John 4:8

To help my grandchildren learn these memory verses, we did craft projects centered around each verse. I also found some cute kids praise and worship songs to go with the Fruit of the Spirit project. Music is always a great way to help children learn and that is especially true for Bible memorization. For love, we used Lincoln Brewster's rousing praise and worship music, Love the Lord Your God, which uses the actual Bible verse in the lyrics.

By the end of the summer we'd learned several new Bible Memory verses, had a fun time for all - both the children and myself, and kept our brains active while hiding God's Word in our hearts. We had a terrific time and so will you.

The Fruit of the Spirit Bible Memory Verses Project For Children

You can find the details to help you and your grandchildren create your own fun family memories as you learn these Bible Memory verses beginning with, You CAN Have the Fruit of the Spirit for your Grandkids' Summer Project - Part 1. You'll also be able to enjoy cute kids praise and worship music videos, including the Fruit of the Spirit song, to help them learn the Fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5: 22-23a, at SandwichINK - http://www.SandwichINK.com

Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar To Get Thin: Does Apple Cider Vinegar Help You Lose Weight?

Does apple cider vinegar help you lose weight? Here's the truth about drinking apple cider vinegar to get thin.

This home-remedy has been used as a way to drop pounds for years. Some people swear by it. But does it work?

Apple

My own experience is that it does.

I have a lot of weight to lose, and I started working on the first of September. In a month, I dropped 18 pounds with an attitude adjustment and a get thin program.

Then on October 2, I got bronchitis. I was very ill for a month. In the second week of coughing my head off, I was looking for natural remedies for cough and I read one that suggested combining apple cider vinegar and raw honey in warm water.

I figured it couldn't hurt me and it just might help, so I started drinking it. It did help my coughing, so I kept drinking it at least once a day.

Before my cough was completely gone, though, one of my coughing fits pulled a muscle in my rib cage area. I could barely move for two more weeks.

During that time, I was feeling kind of down, so I turned to comfort food. I set aside my intention to get thin and ate what I wanted. I had lots of refined carbs, including pizza and biscuits. I drank wine. And of course, I wasn't exercising because I couldn't move without severe pain.

I kept drinking the vinegar.

I had weighed myself at the end of my cough, before the muscle pull, and I'd not lost or gained any weight. When I finally started moving again, I weighed myself again. I'd dropped eight pounds.

That's eight pounds down doing no exercise and not eating healthy. The only thing I was doing was having about 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar a day.

Many others have had similar experiences.

So why drinking apple cider vinegar help you get skinny? Researchers have concluded that the combination of nutrients and enzymes it are responsible for increasing your metabolism. Some studies have shown it also suppresses the appetite. Recent studies have focused on the fact that the vinegar prevents the blood sugar levels in your body from rising, which reduces the amount of insulin your body needs to process your food. These leads to fat loss. And experiential evidence shows that it prevents water retention.

Now, my eight pound loss aside, organized studies and most people who use this weight loss remedy, find that it's not a quick fix. If you don't combine it with a get thin program of healthy eating and fat burning exercise, it won't melt away pounds.

So does apple cider vinegar help you lose weight? Yes. Drinking apple cider can help your efforts to get thin. But it's not a magic potion. You still need a good fat burning program.

Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar To Get Thin: Does Apple Cider Vinegar Help You Lose Weight?

Knowledge is one thing; action is another. Discover the attitude adjustment you must make if you want to get rid of fat. Then get find the best diet and exercise program to get thin and have the body you want.

10 Interesting Facts About the Kiwi Fruit

Kiwi fruit have their origins in China where they are called the "sunny peach" (Yang Tao) or the "macaque peach" (Mikou Tao). They were first taken to New Zealand at the beginning of the 20th century or the end of the 19th, by a missionary, Isabel Frazier. This is how they got their English name, kiwi, which is a Maori word and also the name of a flightless bird indigenous to New Zealand. The British also call the New Zealanders Kiwis, and as it was first imported into Britain from New Zealand, the name is apt in the British context.

The kiwi fruit grows on a vine, although you would be forgiven for thinking that it grows on a small tree, as that is what the mature plant looks like. Now they are grown in Europe, particularly in Portugal, France, Greece and Italy.

Fruit

In 1991 the first golden kiwis were harvested, having a golden coloured flesh rather than the usual green one which is used to such good effect in fruit salads.

The kiwi fruit is rich in nutrients, and has more potassium that a banana and more vitamins E and C than citrus fruits such as grapefruit, oranges and lemons. It also contains calcium, iron, phosphorous, magnesium, copper, some of the B-complex vitamins and the seeds contain an oil rich in Omega-3 which is sadly lacking in most of our diets. It has been hailed as a "super fruit" and rightly so.

In Italian studies on children it has been shown that children with kiwi fruit in their diets and who have respiratory problems such as asthma, shortness of breath and wheezing, have fewer problems than children whose diets do not include this fruit.

In other studies in the lab, in vitro, (not in humans or animals), extracts of kiwi fruit have had inhibiting effects on melanoma cells (skin cancer). The fruit may also help to prevent arteries clogging.

Kiwi fruits exhibit powerful antioxidant activity which means that they combat the free radicals in the body which can damage healthy cells and cause them to become cancerous. Having potent antioxidant properties also means that they can help to thin the blood and so prevent blood clots. Antioxidants also help to reduce signs of aging.

A face mask can be made from the skin and pulp of kiwis which tightens the pores and leaves the skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Just blend a couple of fruit and skins and apply the pulp to your face, leave on for 30 minutes and then rinse off with tepid water.

The lutein contained in kiwis has been linked to the prevention of prostate and lung cancer, although as studies are still underway, it is too early to say if this is actually the case. However adding kiwis to your diet would not harm you, as long as you remove the skin from commercially grown ones as it may contain pesticide residue.

A kiwi fruit also contains a fair amount of dietary fibre, so it can help to prevent constipation and reduce the risk of piles and colon cancer.

Finally on a lighter note, the US humorist, Erma Bombeck once quipped "Someone once threw me a small, brown, hairy kiwi fruit and I threw a wastebasket over it until it was dead."

Why Are Apples Good for You?

Everybody has heard the saying, 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away', but how much truth is there to this, and exactly why are apples good for you? In this article you are going to find out how apples are good for you, with information ranging from apple calories to the nutrients that you are going to find inside an apple. If this tasty fruit is not already a part of your regular diet, then hopefully you will learn something here that will encourage you enough to change that.

Why are apples good for you?

Apple

Let's start off by highlighting the reasons that apples are good for you, before we go onto covering them individually in more detail. Apples are a natural fruit that are grown on trees all over the world. They are highly nutritious and can help top up levels of many of the essential vitamins and minerals that your body require regularly. There are few foods in the world that hold as many nutritional benefits as the apple. For anybody who is on a diet or likes to keep a count of their calories, the apple is a wonderful edition to any meal plan or snack as there are so few calories in an apple.

Apples nutritional benefits

There are many nutritional benefits that can be obtained from eating an apple, that paint a clear picture as to how apples are good for you. In this section I am going to clearly highlight what these are.

Keeping your body nourished involves making sure that you are getting sufficient levels of all of the essential vitamins and minerals each day. Not only will these nutrients keep your body working in the many ways we all take for granted, but they also provide various benefits as well that help both our short, and long term health.

But which of these nutrients are you going to find inside an apple? This is a very good questions, and the list of vitamins and minerals below will provide you with the answer.

Let's start off with the three essential minerals that your body requires a regular dose of, these are known as 'essential' because more of them is required than the other 'trace' minerals.

* Potassium - Great for energy and the development of your muscles.

* Calcium - The apple contains this essential mineral that provides you with strong teeth and bones.

* Magnesium - Magnesium helps to lower cholesterol.

A trace mineral is something that your body still needs a regular dose of, just a smaller amount.

* Phosphorus - Plays a critical role in the body's ability to create energy.

* Manganese -Vital for bones structure and bone metabolism.

* Iron - Iron is vital for creating blood cells that carry oxygen around the body to where it is needed.

* Sodium - Regulates ions in our bodily fluids and tissues.

* Copper - Aids the development and maintenance of the cardiovascular system.

* Zinc - Zinc helps with your metabolism and immune system.

All of the above minerals are found inside apples, and portray how apples are food for you. That's not all though we are yet to cover the vitamins found in them!

* Vitamin A - Aids skin, vision and also helps to renew body tissue.

* Vitamin B1 - Strengthen nerves and improves brain functionality.

* Vitamin B2 - Breaks down proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, and helps produce energy, as well as being a useful antioxidant.

* Vitamin B3 / Niacin - Niacin benefits include playing a pivotal role in the body's ability to produce energy, as well as helping to regulate our calcium.

* Folate - Responsible for the creation of cells within the body.

* Vitamin C - High in this important vitamin, a powerful antioxidant.

* Vitamin E - Provides healthy skin amongst other things.

* Vitamin K - Prevents cardiovascular blockages.

Who would have thought that such a small piece of fruit would be able to provide your body with so many nutritional benefits. Apples really are incredibly beneficial to the human body, and helping you to keep your levels of all the above nutrients up is the key example of why apples are good for you.

How about apple calories?

We have covered the fact that the apple is a highly nutritious fruit, but one question that is going to be on the tip of many peoples' tongue, is how many calories are in an apple?

Well the number of apple calories that you consume are naturally going to depend on the size of the apple that you are eating. But overall you are going to be relieved to know that there are very few calories to worry about when it comes to consuming any size or type of apple.

Here are few quick examples of why apples are good for you as far as the calories in them go:

* A medium sized apple weighing approximately 6.5 oz including the skin has approximately 97 calories.

* A medium sized apple weighing approximately 5.7 oz without the skin has approximately 77 apple calories.

When you consider that foods deemed as bad for you are generally high in calories, the apple is a prime example of a food that can provide you with a range of nutritious benefits as well as barely making an impact on your calorie allowance. If you fancy a snack an apple at less than 100 calories makes much more sense than a whopper from Burger King that holds some 670 calories!

What are apples good for?

Other than the fact there aren't many apple calories to spoil your diet, there being a plethora of nutritional benefits, and also the fact that apples taste wonderful, what are apples good for?

You don't just have to pick an apple up and eat it on its own you know, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the taste of apples, and listed below are some examples of what apples are used for.

* Apple sauce - A wonderful condiment that is enjoyed with a variety of foods, most notably roast pork.

* Baking - The apple is a popular ingredient in pies, pastries, turnovers, as well as crumbles.

* Apple juice - Apple juice is a very popular juice that people drink from the carton. This can provide all of the nutritional benefits apples have to offer, and be a healthy alternative to high calorie soft drinks such as pop.

* Apple cider vinegar - Apple cider vinegar is very popular and enjoyed all over the world.

* Sweet treats - Apples are often used as part of sweet treats, great examples are toffee apples and caramel apples.

* Flavoring and scenting - The apple flavor and scent is something that is associated with a variety of things from scented soap to flavored alcoholic drinks.

Apples also contain fiber, something that is very important for helping to lower your cholesterol levels. There really are a magnificent number of reasons as to why eating apples is a good idea, just ask your doctor, they will tell you!

Summary

I hope that this article has been able to show you exactly why apples are good for you, and hopefully tempted you into trying to eat them more often. They are cheaper and healthier than the average snack that people eat between mealtimes, so why not try and get into a positive habit of making them the snack you choose? Are Apples Equivalent to Caffeine? Nope, They're Better!

I came into work today needing a "pick-me-up". I'll admit it, I was feeling a little tired. Decaf Chamomile Mint tea with honey just didn't cut it this morning, except to soothe my throat. I'm not a morning person either, so even if I wake up feeling great and well rested, it's guaranteed that I'll hit snooze at least once. On mornings where I feel exhausted still I have been known to hit the snooze button for over an hour. Yikes. I feel bad for my college roommates!

However, I have a sweet job with sweet perks... literally! I can come into work and have a delicious, crisp, organic apple. And a Pink Lady Apple at that. (I'm such a sucker for packaging and Pink Lady Apples are packaged well with their beautiful blush pink streaks with yellow.) And I'll be honest, I'm not really an apple person. I consider myself more of a citrus and banana kind of gal.

Apples

You know what they say, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away..." Maybe the old saying should go "An apple a day is better than a cup of coffee today!" It's true! Although apples do not have caffeine, they do have the glucose that fuels your brain and gives you energy. Legitimate natural energy! Talk about a pick-me-up!

Glucose:Brain::Gasoline:Car

(Glucose is to brain what gasoline is to car.)

This analogy brings back painful memories of the SATs! I wish I ate more apples then! Had I known of the goodness of apples sooner I would've saved tens of, gulp, maybe hundreds of dollars from buying so much darn coffee!

Are Apples Equivalent to Caffeine? Nope, They're Better!

If you want to cut back on caffeine, if you're feeling too jittery, or if you just don't like the taste of coffee bring on the fruit (and keep off the pounds!). Don't like apples? Throw a banana into your cereal, oatmeal, or just grab it and go!

Natural & Organic Fruit Tree Sprays

Fruit trees should be sprayed in early spring before the bud opens in order to kill overwintering insects/insect eggs nestled in the crevices of your fruit trees. However, in order to safeguard your health and that of the environment, consider using one of the environmentally safe natural or organic fruit tree sprays which are every bit as capable of killing overwintering insects and insect larvae. Any of the following organic and natural fruit tree sprays will do the job: a lime sulfur/horticultural oil mixture, a horticultural oil/water mixture, and a homemade spray made up of natural ingredients.

Organic Fruit Tree Sprays

Fruit

The first type of organic fruit tree sprays, the lime sulfur/horticultural oil mixture, can sometimes be bought premixed, but you can also buy a kit and mix the two. The lime sulfur is a natural fungicide which kills dormant fungus spores or bacteria. The horticultural oil is used to smother all overwintering insects and/or the eggs.

This combination spray must be used early in the spring before the buds swell and break open; otherwise you risk burning the new leaf. Also it can be sprayed only if the temperature remains between 0 degrees Celsius (32 F) and 20 degrees Celsius (about 70 F) for at least 24 hours because the oil part of the spray needs time to smother insects or their eggs. A cold night will break down the oil before it has a chance to be effective. However if it happens to freeze after the 24 hour period, there is no harm done.

Spray when there is very little or no wind, and no rain, snow, or sleet in the forecast. Read instructions carefully and cover yourself well because it can be a messy job when you spray your tree from the top down until it drips. In addition, the lime sulphur has a strong smell, so wear clothes you can wash.

A second type of organic fruit tree sprays, the horticultural oil/water mixture, can be used not only in early spring but also throughout the summer as long as the spraying is done early in the morning when the weather is cooler and the tree has cooled off. This mixture is far less messy than the first one.

Natural Fruit Tree Spray

You can always opt out of this messiness by making your own mixture with natural ingredients from your kitchen cupboard or bought at a gardening center. One spray mixture which is easy to make and which can be used in the spring or at any time during the summer months includes liquid seaweed (found in plant nurseries) blackstrap molasses (the kind you use for cooking), apple cider vinegar, and Murphy soap - all added to a gallon of water.

The seaweed and the molasses not only fight fungal disease in the garden but also feed the plant through the leaves (called foliar feeding) especially if you are spraying really early in the morning when the leaf pores are still open.

You needn't worry about the molasses attracting bugs. The plants absorb the molasses instantly. Boom it's gone! The fruit trees just love it!

The acidity of the vinegar helps kill black spot on roses, powdery mildew, brown patch, and other nasty fungi.

So instead of spraying your fruit trees with poisonous insecticides/pesticides, you may want to consider using the dormant spray combination of lime sulfur and horticultural oil, the dormant horticultural oil/water mixture, or a spray made up of natural ingredients, a spray which not only smothers the insects/insect eggs and fights fungal diseases but also feeds the tree.

Blood Sugar Levels and the Type of Fruit to Eat!

When you were first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes you learned the extra weight you put on over many years, played a large role in you developing type 2. Carrying fat around your abdominal area led to your insulin becoming less effective ... this is known as insulin resistance, meaning your body had to produce more and more insulin to control your blood sugar levels.

Eventually your pancreas could not produce enough insulin and your blood sugar levels started to rise. This is the point at which your type 2 diabetes occurred. Whilst sweet foods did not in themselves cause this condition, excess calories of any kind, sweets, cake, potatoes, sugary drinks and alcohol, or maybe not enough physical activity together with eating too much food, is clearly related to being overweight or obese. Add to this a genetic flaw and obesity makes you more likely to develop type 2.

Fruit

Now you are at this stage you find you need to watch what you eat. Most people like fruit, and yes, you can eat fruit but you need to watch the amount and type you eat.

Eating fruits that contain high fructose or high fruit sugar levels, can lead to problems. This would be like eating pure sugar and pure sugar has a GI value of 100 and eating carbohydrates with a GI value that high would certainly negatively affect your blood sugar levels.

Actually health care practitioners who once believed all fruit was good for the body, have reconsidered that idea and can now see it's the glycemic index of the fruit that matters most. Fruits that rank high on the GI scale include:

  • raisins, they are  even higher than grapes
  • pineapple
  • very ripe peaches and nectarines
  • cantaloupe and watermelon (but because they are primarily water you can eat one cup of them without having to worry about spiking blood sugar levels)

Lower ranking fruits include:

  • cherries
  • grapefruit
  • prunes
  • dried apricots
  • apple
  • pears
  • plums
  • strawberries
  • oranges

The key is simply select the best carbohydrate fruits ... low-GI, which are equal to fifty-five per cent or less on a carbohydrate ranking. Know which fruits have a high glycemic index and which ones it would be wise to eat in moderation:

  • half cup pineapple,
  • 10 grapes,
  • 2 tablespoons raisins,
  • a half a large peach or ripe nectarine

This is one of the ways you start to gain control over your blood sugar levels.

Blood Sugar Levels and the Type of Fruit to Eat!

Be careful though ... even if the carbohydrate you are eating is low GI, you will not be able to get away with eating too much of it. Your blood sugars will not improve and you may not lose any of that extra weight!

Indoor Fruit Trees - Ten Fruit Trees You Can Grow Indoors

One of the most popular new trends in gardening is growing indoor fruit and citrus trees. These small trees grow in containers and are specifically bred to grow indoors. Let's take a look at ten varieties of indoor fruit trees and a little information about each...

Caring For An Indoor Fruit Tree

Fruit

If you are concerned these trees will be high maintenance, don't worry. They are actually quite hardy and apapt well to almost any environment.

The key is giving them enough sunlight. Place them in an area where they will get about six hours of sunlight per day, preferably a southern or western exposure.

Water your tree once a week or when the soil is on the dry side of moist. Also, since fruit trees in general like humid conditions, mist them with tepid water from a spray bottle two or three times weekly.

Although it's not required, these trees will enjoy being outdoors in the warm summer months. A patio or balcony is a perfect spot. Most of these varieties are self pollinating but being outdoors will let bees and other insects do the job.

Here are ten varieties of indoor fruit trees for your home...

Meyer Lemon

This is perhaps the most popular variety. This tree will top out at about four feet and produce lemons that are sweeter than those you will find at the grocery store, and just about the same size too.

Key Lime

Topping out at three feet or so, this tree produces two crops per year of small, tart key limes, perfect for recipes and to add to drinks.

Dwarf Orange

Several varieties of dwarf orange trees are available, including blood oranges, navel, and juice oranges. Most are seedless and we find the oranges to be sweeter than those you can buy.

Tangerine

This tree tops out at four feet and is quite prolific. We particularly like the lush green foliage and the natural, tropical scent from the blossoms.

Pomegranate

With pomegranates all the rage for their numerous health benefits, it was just a matter of time before an indoor pomegranate tree became available. It produces fruit the same size as normal pomegranates, with a softer, juicier, and sweeter flesh.

Citrus Three In One

If you can't decide which tree or trees you want, try this variety. It produces lemons, oranges, and tangerines all on one tree! It tops off at four feet and the fruit is full sized.

Grapefruit

The grapefruit from this tree is slightly smaller, with a pinkish flesh. The fruit is seedless and less tart than traditional grapefruit.

Dwarf Banana

This fast growing specimen will grow five to six feet tall and produce six inch bananas within two years. The tree has big, deep green textured leaves which really adds an element of the tropics to your home.

Pineapple

This drought resistant small tree bears pineapples that are more fleshy, without the woody center of store bought pineapples.

Papaya

An exotic looking specimen that grows only three feet tall, the dwarf papaya tree is a fast grower that produces fruit within a year.

Summary

More and more options are available for those who want to grow their own fruit indoors. These hardy indoor fruit trees are ideal for any living space and will thrive with only minimal care. Further, they are quite inexpensive, with most varieties costing less than .

The Apple Success Story

Apple has to be one of the greatest success stories of all time. The beginnings of Apple started with Wozniak assembling a simple built computer machine. It was in the summer of 1971 Wozniak 21 and Jobs 16 were introduced to each other by a mutual friend Bill Fernandez. Wozniak had shown Jobs his simple built computer machine and this impressed Jobs to the point Jobs believed he could sell it for a profit. It was here they would form a strong friendship because they not only shared a passion for computers, but because they were both known as outcasts and for the first time they had a great understanding, admiration and respect for each others abilities, personality and intellect. They would begin the Apple project by selling some of their possessions: Wozniak's HP scientific calculator and Jobs' Volkswagen, they raised 00 and assembled their first prototypes in Jobs bedroom. When the project became too big for the bedroom they moved the project into Jobs family's garage, it was on a huge wooden work bench that served as their first manufacturing base. The computers were hand built by Wozniak and first shown to the public at the Homebrew Computer club. After selling a number of the machines Apple was established on April 1, 1976 and went public on December 12, 1980.

So the question is how has Apple been able to maintain its great success? Apple has maintained its great success with its ability to understand what the consumer wants before the consumer even knows what they want; Apple effectively creates wants by their constant creative innovation and unique design which is stylish, user friendly and affordable. They have also been able to create a brand in the high technology world just as Chanel has in the fashion world. People can easily recognize an apple whether it's the I-Pod, the I-Phone, the Mac Air or the I-Pad. It has become a product that defines one's identity in how they desire to be seen by society that is a person who is highly innovative, intelligent, stylish and apart of the in crowd. This is pure marketing genius.
This marketing genius of Apple has seen this company out perform beyond the business world's expectations. While so many companies are struggling to break even in the current recession Apple is getting stronger by the day. The last three years has seen Apple's profits soar, take a look at these figures:

Apple

A profit of 8.2 Billion in 2007 followed by a profit of 11.2 Billion in 2008 and most recently a profit of 17.2 Billion in 2009. That is more than a 100% growth in profit from 2007 to 2009- Incredible!
With these profits and Apple's constant innovation, what will they think of next? My bet is another great innovated product that we never thought we would want or need, but will end up on our wish list.

The Top Five Healing Fruits And Vegetables

Of course I don't need to tell you that fresh fruits and vegetables play a vital role in healthy eating habits. At the very minimum, you should eat five servings of produce each day. Seven is even better, and nine is really great.

The reason fruits and vegetables are so important is that they are packed with micronutrients that help your body to support specific systems.

Fruit

They are also a great source of fiber. Plus fruits and vegetables are your best source of carbohydrates. Your body needs carbohydrates to produce energy. The carbs you get from produce are easier to digest than those you get from grains. (Carbs in grains are denser and "sticky," which makes them hard for your body to use.)

Here are five recommendations for the types of fruits and vegetables you should reach for most often. These will help your body fight disease, they'll lower your levels of inflammation, and they'll generally improve your health.

Berries

Brightly-colored berries like cranberries and blueberries are packed with antioxidants that help your body to fight disease and lower inflammation. In fact, when it comes to antioxidants, berries deliver the most of any fruit or vegetable.

Research shows that compounds in blueberries help your brain to stay healthy. 1 As you age inflammation and oxidation take a toll on your brain, even if it is disease-free. Your motor skills, cognitive function, and memory may all suffer. However, blueberries can make a difference. The polyphenols in blueberries help protect against diseases like Alzheimer's, they prevent age-related declines in function, and they may even help the brain to work better by enhancing its neuronal communication.

Other studies suggest that cranberries and blueberries both may protect against certain cancers, against heart disease, and against stroke. 2

In addition to all this, berries are rich in soluble fiber, which can improve your digestion and help to lower cholesterol levels.

Cherries

Cherries are rich in the antioxidant compound, anthocyanin. This compound may help relieve the pain and inflammation associated with arthritis. In animal studies, researchers found that anthocyanin significantly improved the symptoms of arthritis. 3

In addition to anthocyanin, cherries contain a broad spectrum of flavanoids and phytochemicals-these are micronutrients that work as very specific antioxidants in your body. Together they can make a positive difference to your health at the cellular level.

Cruciferous Vegetables

Vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and asparagus are rich in a compound called diindolylmethane, or DIM for short. DIM converts into indole-3-carbinol in your body. This compound helps to remove aggressive estrogen from your system. It also helps prevent new aggressive estrogens from being absorbed into the body.

This does your body two favors. First, it helps to bring your hormones into better balance. Second, aggressive estrogens are associated with breast and prostate cancers, so cruciferous vegetables help protect you from these deadly diseases.

Tomatoes

These tasty, versatile vegetables (or fruits, depending on who you ask) are rich in lycopene. Lycopene may reduce your risk of a number of cancers including colon, breast, prostate, and skin cancer.

Tomatoes are also a good source of vitamin C, an antioxidant that serves many purposes in your body. It boosts the immune system, improves the health of your skin, and fights against many cancers.

Nuts

Okay, nuts aren't technically a fruit or a vegetable, but they do grow on trees, so I'm making an exception. Nuts are a rich source of minerals. Brazil nuts, for example, are one of the best available sources of selenium. Nuts can also provide calcium, zinc, iron, copper, and manganese. In fact, a 100 gram serving of mixed nuts a day delivers your daily-recommended amounts of all these important minerals. 4

Food is your absolute best source of the many nutrients your body needs for optimum health. These five foods will give you a wide variety of micronutrients, antioxidants, and minerals-the building blocks for a healthy, disease-free body.

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

1 tbsp butter or margarine

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Bake pie in a 425 degree oven for 45 - 55 minutes or until crust turns a golden brown and the filling starts to bubble up through the vents.

NO SUGAR ADDED APPLE PIE

1/3 cup frozen apple juice concentrate

8 tsp Splenda granular

2 tsp cornstarch

1 tsp ground cinnamon

8 cups thinly sliced baking apples, peeled

1 tbsp butter

Pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a small mixing bowl, combine juice, Splenda, cornstarch and cinnamon. Line a 9-inch pie plate with pastry, allowing pastry to overlap sides. Place apple slices over bottom pastry. Pour the juice mixture evenly over the apple slices. Dot with the butter. Top with pastry. Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut a slit in center of crust for venting during baking. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 400 degrees and bake 15-20 minutes longer until pie is bubbly and crust is a golden brown.

This is a good pastry crust recipe suitable for use with either of these pie recipes.

Pastry for a double-crust 9-inch pie:

2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

2/3 cup lard or solid vegetable shortening

5 to 7 tbsp ice water

In a large bowl, stir flour and salt together until blended. Using a pastry blender or two knives, cut lard or shortening into flour mixture until the mixture becomes mealy.

Mix in ice water a little at a time with a fork, stirring until the mixture leaves sides of bowl and forms a ball. Finish shaping dough into a ball with your hands, cut in half with a knife to form two balls for the top and the bottom of the pan. On a lightly floured board, flatten one ball of dough and roll with a lightly floured rolling pin from center to edge in a circular fashion, making a 12-inch circle. Place pastry into a 9-inch pie pan, fitting gently and trimming off excess dough with sharp knife or scissors. Fill or bake according to recipe. Roll out remaining dough in the same manner to use as a top crust.

Enjoy!

Right Space - Wrong Broker

The next time your firm considers relocating, the biggest mistake you can make is to inspect the right space with the wrong broker. That means you have to make sure the broker is representing you - not the landlord.

Some tenants, when thinking about moving, drive around and call the phone numbers found on signs in front of all the buildings that appeal to them. Not only does this method waste a lot of the tenants' time, causing them to consider buildings that may not have appropriate available space, it also puts the tenants in a terrible disadvantage. Keep in mind - the person answering the phone when you make those calls was hired by the landlord to make the best deal possible for the landlord - not you. If you engage a firm to represent your interests, they will create the leverage you will need to ensure you the best possible results.

Apple

When dealing with the larger brokerage firms, most average-sized tenants will be relegated to dealing with one of the firm's more junior brokers. Not only do these junior brokers not have the level of experience you need, they usually are part of a "team." That means they not only have to split commissions with the house, they also have to split with the other members of their team. Therefore, on a typical 3,000-square-foot lease (on average, three out of four leases signed in Westchester each year are for 3,000 square feet or less), each broker ends up with what may be as little as a 500-square-foot transaction. Few brokers can afford to pay a lot of attention to a transaction that small. Surely, most will not.

The larger brokerage firms may bring in their heavy hitters to handle the final negotiations for you, but at our firm, we believe negotiations begin the moment the prospective tenant is introduced to the owner or his or her agent. Tenants must also be careful to avoid the conflicts if interest faced by the larger brokerage firms that derive the lion's share of their income from representing landlords.

Some tenants may believe that their attorneys can take care of everything. However, by the time final negotiations begin, if your interests have not been represented properly every step of the way, the damage will already been done. Therefore, before going into the market, be sure you chose a broker that has undivided loyalty to you, is prepared to represent you every step of the way, and one who has plenty of experience in the marketplace in which you are looking.

At Rakow Commercial Realty Group Inc., we specialize in representing the interests of tenants. Our brokers average more than 17 years experience in this marketplace and our method of compensation ensures tenants the absolute highest level of service.

There was a time not long ago, if a broker wanted to provide cutting edge, state of the art data processing technology, computerized lease analysis, space availability databases, etc, that broker would have to work for one of the larger brokerage houses. Not anymore. Thanks to today's technology, not only can the boutique brokerage compete head to head with the largest brokerage houses, we can do so right at the tenant's desk.

We provide each of our highly trained tenant representatives with a laptop computer outfitted with the latest software. Right at your desk, not only can we perform an extremely thorough space availability analysis based on your specific space and geographical requirements, we will show you four-color images and up-to-the minute detail for each property that matches your specific needs.

In the short space of a 20 to 30 minute meeting, we provide you with all the information you need to decide which properties are worthy of investing your valuable time to inspect.

Many times, leasing decisions are based on the way a tenant relates to the esthetics of a building. Our software helps the tenant to determine if he or she believes the look of the building corresponds to the image they wan to project. Rather than driving around all day, getting in and out of the car looking at buildings you might not care for, the only buildings we will have you are those properties previously approved by you. We have saved our clientele an enormous amount of time this way. Our customers really appreciate the convenience and time saved with this service.

Once we have determined which buildings are favored, we send out comprehensive Requests for Proposals (RFP). After we receive all the responses, we provide our tenants with individual financial and lease analysis for each property under consideration. These reports project all costs associated with occupancy at that property over the entire term of the lease.

We then provide a Lease Analysis and Comparison Report, detailing contemplated transaction as it relates to all others - "apples to apples" - which is otherwise incredibly difficult for buildings with different prices and terms. This is where we really earn our way. Because we have all been doing this so long, we know all the right questions to ask and how and when to ask them. We know how to negotiate.

We know how to protect and how to best position our customers so they will be assured of making the best decisions, based on the best information. Our Lease Analysis software ensures the tenant will truly understand which building offers them the best deal, economically. This analysis, along with our experience in negotiating leasing transactions in this marketplace, guaranties our tenants the best results possible with a level of service that cannot be matched.
